When I host a baby shower or help a friend come up with ideas I try to think of unique games that everyone hasn't played before and ones that don't cost any money.
Here are a few baby shower games to help you on your way.
I try to have one game that runs throughout the shower. It seems to help everyone loosen up and get to know each other. This can be fun even if they have played it before. I give everyone a clothespin and tell them whoever has the most by refreshment time wins. I then ask them to pin them to their sleeves or collars. I then tell them they can steal the other guests clothespins if they catch someone saying the word baby, or if they see someone crossing their legs. You can really pick any word or gesture and it works out well.
Think of some baby words and scramble them up. You can give everyone a piece of paper with the scrambled words or write them on a poster board and just give them blank sheets of paper. Examples of words can be diaper, cradle, pacifier, blanket, bottle, stroller, etc.
Think of some famous moms with equally famous daughters. You name the mom and they have to list the children. Debbie Reynolds - Carrie Fisher, Judy Garland - Liza Minelli, Cher - Chastity Bono, Goldie Hawn - Kate Hudson, Hilary Clinton - Chelsea, and any others you can think of. You could vary this by using TV moms too: Carol Brady - Marsha, Jan, or Cindy, Carolyn Ingalls - Laura, or Mary, Claire Huxtable - Denise, Vanessa, Sandra, or Rudy. You could even ask them to list them all.
List different states and see who can list the capitals. This is a good one when you have a variety of ages.
Think of a list of things that may be in someone's purse. Especially a mom's. Example gum, kleenex, pens, candy, pacifier, sunglasses, toy, etc. Whoever has the most items in their purse is the winner.
Pick out a few nursery rhymes and you say the first part and see if they can remember the second. Example Jack and Jill went up the hill - to fetch a pail of water, Hickory Dickory Dock - the mouse went up the clock, Baa Baa Black Sheep have you any wool - yes sir, yes sir, three bags full, and the list goes on.
You can ask all the guests to bring a picture of them when they were a baby. Then pass them around and see who can match up the photos. If this is mainly a family shower you can already have some photos of the guests, be sure and include one of your guest of honor.
