Baby showers are a lot of fun, but they can also be a lot of work to plan. Here are some baby shower ideas for themes to help you with your planning. You can plan your favors and decorations around the chosen theme.
1. Around the Clock
Assign a time to all the invitees and they should bring a gift to correspond with the time they were given. Example noon could be baby bottles, midnight might be a night light.
2. Noah's Ark
This is especially a good theme for someone expecting twins. Since everything needs to come in pairs.
3. Color Theme
You base the shower theme on a color such as pink, blue, yellow, or whatever the mother would like and ask guests to bring gifts of that color. Of course invitations, decorations, and favors are also the same color.
4. Diapy Wipey
This is an especially good shower idea for moms who already have a child or two. They may not need a lot of things but they will need diapers and wipes. Guests bring diapers and wipes as gifts - you may want to assign a size to the invitees so the parents get a variety of sizes. You can also pick a brand or let the guest choose.
5. Baby's Library
Ask guests to bring as gifts favorite children's books that they or their family have enjoyed.
6. Mommy Shower
In some cases it may be the mom that needs to be showered with some pampering gifts. Especially if she already has a few little ones at home. Gift ideas can be bubble bath, facials, pedicures, perfume, etc.
7. Diapers and Dinner
You can ask guests to bring diapers and a frozen casserole. Ask that instructions be included with the casserole so mom or dad know how to reheat it after the baby is born.
8. Room-to-Room
Assign guests with different rooms and ask that their gifts reflect the room they were given.
9. Lullaby (bedtime) or Rubber Ducky (bath time) Shower
Guests can bring gifts to use at bath or bed time.
10. Play time Shower
Ask guests to bring toys as gifts. Your gift could be a toy box or wagon and you could use that to place the gifts in.
11. Grandma's Shower
If the mother lives far away from friends and family you can give grandma a shower. Bring all the gifts in paper bags so everyone can see the gifts. Then together everyone can wrap them up for grandma to take when she goes to see the new arrival. Take lots of pictures to share with mom.
12. Keeping Baby Safe
This theme idea is especially good for new moms whose homes may not yet be childproof. You could even assign different rooms to guests to help childproof.
That is about it for now. I hope these baby shower ideas and themes help you when you plan your baby shower! Have fun!
I did something really fun with my last baby shower and it was a great idea! I found a place where you can create web pages for children (or expectant children). My friend (who was the one expecting a baby) was thrilled with it.
It literally takes only 5 minute and is totally free!! Anyone can do it no matter what their computer experience.
You don't need to give your address or phone number, sign up for newsletters (although you can if you want - some are actually very useful), they don't send you a bunch of emails (just a password which allows you to access the web page you created, and it is really easy. You pick a background, music, type the text you want to show up, and you can even add pictures (easily).
What I did was I went and quickly created a web page for my friend and included all the information that I wanted. (Due date - nursery decor - how thrilled I was for her, etc. ). Then I contacted her friends and family and had them go in and sign the guestbook and to leave a little parenting tip or a story of when she was a baby. It was such a hit. She absolutely loved it and thought it was so thoughtful of everyone. (You could even include the url address on your baby invitations and everyone could go and do this before the shower to surprise her. That way people who can't attend can still participate. Then after the shower you could quickly put a picture from the shower on the page for mom to enjoy.)
It didn't cost me anything and took me less than 10 minutes to do. When I told her how easy it was she (after the baby was born) created one herself and updates it periodically with new pictures so everyone can see how the baby is changing. She has had a lot of fun with it and kept her friends and family in the loop.
If you have kids you could do it for them as well. They only allow one page per email address so if you want to do more than one and only have one address you could sign up for a yahoo or hotmail email account to do this.
I encourage you to check it out it is fun and easy. The web pages look great too! Here is the link.
