Children and guns, be safe, rather than sorry!

Provided by: Jorbins.com

Educate your children about guns even if you do not have one in your home. Chances are, some of your friends, your children's friends, your neighbors, or your relatives have one in theirs.

Talk about the dangers. Teach the difference between television and real life. Explain the consequences that can occur when playing with guns.

Remember, many children cannot tell the difference between a real and play gun.

Tell them to never play with guns and tell them often. Practice what to do in different situations. Quiz your children on what they would do if they found a gun.

If you have a gun in your home always keep it unloaded. Lock up your ammunition separate from your locked gun. Use a gun lock or tamper-proof devise on your gun. Remember to keep the keys to the gun and ammunition separate from regular keys, and keep them inaccessible to your children.

Talk to your friends, relatives, and anyone who may have a gun that may be assessable to your child. Make sure they are aware of and follow these safety procedures.

Guns are used for protection, and so are these safety tips.
