HIB immunization shots and boosters

Teri (Guest) Said,

I forgot to ask the doctor when we were last in there, I would like to know what HIB shots (and boosters) keep children immune from. Anyone know for sure?

Lynn (Guest) Said,

Just came back from the doctor and my daughter just had her HIB shot, my paperwork says it is for haemophilus influenza type B.

I learned that if I gave my child some kind of pain reliever about an hour before his shot that we did much better. Either Tylenol or Ibuprofen seem to work for us.

I think the pain reliever helps for the initial poke of the needle but moreso it seemed to keep any fever at bay so he felt better and was less likely to be cranky.

My daughter got her chicken pox shot a few weeks before her 1st birthday. When it came time for her school physical to register her into kindergarten she had to have another chicken pox shot. The reason was because she had her initial shot before her first birthday and it needed to be after she was one to count for school immunization records.
