Reading is so important for children. Those that like to read and can read well have a much easier time in school. If school is not hard they tend to like it better and are more apt to pursue higher education.

Let your children see you enjoying books too. You will be opening up the world to your children if you can get them to enjoy reading.

If you don't have many books go to the library and check some out. Read together with your child and if they cannot read yet start the process. First they need to know their alphabet, then pick out a word that is used often in the book and see how many times they can find it. Get them excited about reading!!

When you are out running errands ask them to find certain letters on signs, if they can read have them read the signs to you. Anything you can do to help them become a good reader will benefit them in the long run.
