I am not sure at what age I should be assigning regular chores to my 3 year old. I am not talking major stuff here but I want to start him out right learning responsibility.
I think you should start teaching them responsibility and accountability when they are young. Assigning regular chores is a good way to do it.
I do look at chores different than most I think. I don't consider picking up your toys a chore. That is something that you should teach your child to do anyway.
We tried to come up with age appropriate chores for our kids such as emptying the bathroom trash into the big trash can. Wiping the kitchen table after supper, or clearing the table if they are old enough and it is appropriate.
Basically at first it would probably be quicker to do it yourself, and you may have to redo some things as they are learning but the big picture is they get in the habit of helping and being responsible.
