Tea Baskets

Gourmet tea, where do I start? Well I always start with a pretty new tea cup. I am always on the lookout for tea cups and saucers to add to my tea gift baskets.

While you certainly don't have to, I like to center by tea gift baskets around one flavor or aroma. I also usually include a pretty bath soap as well as a candle it it.

There are so many teas to choose from, there is even a ton of decaffeinated gourmet tea out there as well.

Some of my favorites are green tea, lemon tee, earl grey, and chai tea. You can really add about anything to a tea gift basket. An infuser, a teapot, a pretty picture frame (if you do this I like to put a picture in it of the person I am giving it to with myself or their children), some flavored stirs, tea cookies, jellies, or even some honey.

If I am giving the tea gift basket in the summer time I try to either just use or at least include iced tea varieties. The assortment of specialty iced tea has grown a lot in the last few years.

If I am making up a tea gift basket for someone that has been ill, I like to include some hand lotion or bath salts, basically anything to make them feel a little pampered. This works well for new moms too.

I sometimes include two matching tea cups in my gift baskets. That way the gift can be enjoyed with a friend.

I have a friend whose grandma lives quite a distance away. Every year she makes her grandma a tea gift basket and includes a tea cup that she has also purchased for herself. She includes a frame that holds two pictures. She always includes one of herself (with the tea cup when she sends it). Then each year when she goes out to visit she brings her matching tea cup and her husband takes a picture of the two of them together enjoying their morning tea.

They say it helps breach the miles between them knowing that each one is thinking of the other as they have their morning tea each day.
