You know those gooey, tasty cinnamon rolls you get at the bakery? You can make them yourself at less than 1/4 of the cost and they taste better anyway. You won't believe how quick and easy they really are to make.
Okay, I cheat a bit nowadays and don't make my own sweet roll dough anymore. I have moved on and use loaves of frozen bread dough instead. I really don't notice a taste difference and for me time is a big factor.
Cinnamon Roll Ingredients:
3 loaves of frozen bread dough (I use Rhodes)
3/4 - 1 cup spreadable margarine (approx)
2 1/2 cups white sugar (approx)
1/3 cup cinnamon (I just sprinkle it on but this should be fairly accurate but use your judgment)
Gooey sauce Ingredients:
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup water
2 tbls corn syrup
2 cups chopped walnuts (optional)
How to Make:
First off get your bread thawed. Let it raise the first time according to the directions.
Put all the ingredients to the gooey sauce in a saucepan and heat it up enough to melt the margarine and mix well.
Get out one 8 x 8 and two 9 x 13 glass dishes and pour the gooey sauce into them splitting it accordingly.
If you want nuts now is the time to sprinkle it over the sauce in your glass dishes. Hold off on the small pan until you see if you need it.
Roll out each loaf of bread into a rectangular shape. I try to roll mine out to approx 12 to 14 inches in height and longer in length, approximately 1/2 inch thick, it will depend on how big you want your rolls.
Spread margarine all over your dough except at the top edge. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll up from the bottom and pinch the top edge together. Slice your roll of cinnamon rolls about 1/2 - 3/4 inch thick and place them with a little bit of room between them into your glass dishes starting with the 9 x 13 pans.
Continue on with the other two loaves. Depending on how thick you roll and cut your dough you may not need the small pan, I usually do though.
Let them rise for approx 20 - 40 minutes. This will vary according to how warm your kitchen is. I usually let them rise for about 1/2 hour.
Bake at 375 for about 30 minutes. Till they are a light brown on top.
After I take them out of the oven I let them sit for 10 minutes or so for the gooey sauce to set up a bit.
A tip to get them out of the pans is to take a couple sheets of foil and fold it together into one big rectangle (bout 1 1/3 the size of your pans) with the edges folded up to catch any extra gooey sauce. Then quickly flip the pans over onto the foil.
Another tip you might want to let them cool a bit before you eat them, they will be hot. Enjoy!
