How long till I get apples

I know I can't expect apples this year but about how soon will it be before my tree is big enough to bear fruit?

I too have a small tree and it actually got apples the 2nd year, not very many and not very big though. I think for me at least it will be several years for a good crop because my tree doesn't seem to be growing very fast.
