I am interested in hearing from someone who has actually grown one of these self pollinating cherry tree varieties and are happy with the results.
Since there are no self-polinating brands named here, I presume I have one growing in my back yard. I planted some Bing Cherry seeds about 5 years ago and right now the tree is about 8 feet tall and is loaded with cherries. The bad news is that they don't get red. Only pinkish green and they drop off. Got any ideas what it lacking ? Black dirt land. Beautiful tree loaded with blooms and limbs sagging with cherries. Blooms year round and has cherries year round.
What ya think ?
I can't seem to find an answer to this question. Is a gropu of cherry trees called a "grove" or "orchard"? Thanks if anyone is able to reply.
If the group of trees bears fruit or nuts, (something edible), it is called an orchard. Otherwise the group of trees is called a grove.
I believe you need to have at least two Bing Cherry trees to pollinate eachother for the fruit to be edible. Most of the sweet-variety of the cherries need a pollinator.
