I planted some Bing Cherry seeds and they grew quite well here in south Texas. Tree is completely loaded with cherries but they do not get red. They get a pinkish green and fall off the trees. Putting in a cool dark place does not ripen them. Does anyone know what will it take to get them ripe?
I can only think of two things offhand. Could you have had a late frost? Sometimes a pocket of cold air at the wrong time will cause this. Your tree will look normal and you don't even know it happened until the cherries fall off because of the frost damage when the tree was flowering.
The other thing would be if you see a darkish sawdust type material at the base of your cherry tree you could have a peach tree borer. If that is the case your local nursery can give you something to take care of it, just be sure to tell them you have it on a cherry tree and not a peach tree.
