Cantaloupe melons 1st time grower

Not sure what to do next in full flower even the side shoots can you advise our next step as to what to do as to producing melons do we need to cut off side shoots we are lst timers at this and totally baffled as to what to do next so we get melons thanks

What the heck is a side shoot? We are planning our first garden next year and I bet this is something I need to know.
