Zinnias: Saving Plants

my zinnias were so nice, that I pulled some of the plants and potted them. They are growing and blooming on my enclosed porch now, but how can I save them to re-plant in my flower beds next year?

I have done this twice now. Everytime I start my zinnias inside and then replant them outdoors when it is nicer by double flower types only produce one flower. Not sure why but that is what happens with zinnias.
