Creating focal points in your home helps create a sense of balance and unity. Every room should have it's own unique focal points that help to express the style and decor of the room.
Here are a few pointers to help you create focal points.
1. Use a mixture of man made objects and natural objects shuch as plants, rocks, flowers, and water.
2. Use an odd number of objects in a focal point. The rule of thumb is 3 or 5 objects.
3. Do not use equally shaped objects. Use a variety of shapes for each focal point. For example use one circular, one triangular, and one rectangular.
4. Try not to use objects that carry the same visual weight. Using objects of the same visual weight in a focal point creates little to no interest to it's viewer.
5. Use a variety of height when choosing objects for your focal points. Arrange the taller objects in back and shorter in the front almost like a pyramid.
