Just thought I would share this with everyone, most people probably say duh, of course it is easier to do the backsplash after it is installed. But in case anyone is trying to remodel their kitchen on their own without much experience I thought I would share this.
Thanks for the tip. I am getting ready (tomorrow) to put in our new laminate countertops and I hadn't even thought about it being easier to do the backsplash last. Now I know.
We are upgrading a kitchen a bit so we can sell it and really need to replace our kitchen countertops. Laminate is about the best material we can see to do this inexpensive and easily. Unless anyone has any other ideas on a better choice than laminate countertops.
Sarah,
Check with your realtor and ask them what is hot now. They may have other ideas on what you can do not only to your countertops but to help you make the right choices for your budget in making the kitchen a selling point.
Just an idea, I know people call me when they are ready to sell and have done some remodeling in the kitchen to help with this and I often wish they would have called me first so I could advice them.
But new countertops are definitely a good thing when it comes to kitchens. Laminate countertops may be the best choice if you are on a budget, but it wouldn't hurt to ask a local realtor first.
I have an existing counter top with a squared off edging made of formica (laminate) I want to add tiles to the front edging. How can I do this without ripping off the front piece?
