Solid Concrete Countertops or Concrete Tiles?
Does anyone have any opinions on if I am going to be sorry I didn't go to the extra expense in my kitchen and just do solid concrete instead of concrete countertop tiles?
I really don't know about the tiles but I have concrete countertops (they were here when we bought the home 7 years ago) and they look just as good as they did when we bought it. I will never go with any other kind of countertop material again. We love them.
I am looking for tips for instaling concrete countertops. I would love to learn from others experiences and mistakes.
When you are putting your sink in go get some lifting clamps. You attach them to a piece of level board laid across the sink. You can then tighten it up and get a good fit from countertop to sink.
If you find that your concrete countertops aren't quite level when you match them up be sure and use plastic shims and not wood ones to make them even. Even better get some metal screws and go up from the underside and slowly screw them up until your countertop is level.

Good advice from tada. But to add you don't want all of your countertop counting on just one plastic shim or metal screw to keep it even. Be sure and use a few for more even support and better countertop stability.

I hate the expense but I am thinking it probably is worth every penny to have corian counters in my kitchen. I haven't yet found another solid surface that impresses me as much. Any thoughts?

Just thought I would share this with everyone, most people probably say duh, of course it is easier to do the backsplash after it is installed. But in case anyone is trying to remodel their kitchen on their own without much experience I thought I would share this.

Maybe I am missing something but to me these would not be a wise remodeling choice, especially in the kitchen. They stain easy and require so much care that I would think it would be a bad decision. Can anyone fill me in on why it is a good choice for the kitchen?
