We never use the fan and would like to have a chandelier instead. Is it going to be hard to switch them, and is that possible without going to a lot of expense?
Should be easier to install this way in my opinion, a lot of the work has been done for you. Some chandeliers are heavy so make sure you have enough support for it though.
We replaced a chandelier in our home and the newer one was heavier and we had a disaster. So my recommendations is to go for the chandelier, it looks much better in the kitchen, but make sure your supports can stand a really heavy one in case you ever decide on a new one that weighs more.

We have decided our kitchen needs more light, especially under the cabinets. Can anyone give me some hints, tips, or anything on how to chose and install them?

I need second opinions here. I have picked out a set of 3 pendant lights to put over the breakfast bar and I found a larger one that is more bowl shaped that I would like above my kitchen island. Do I need to design wise go with the same ones in both places? My husband thinks they should be the same.

Does anyone know if installing track lighting on a ceiling that slopes causes any kind of problems?

Basically my kitchen needs more light to be able to see well to cook and work. I think I can install the rope lights above my cabinets by myself at minimum cost. Will this help solve our problem?

Apparently there is potential problems when you have limited ventilation (like I do because of the cathedral ceiling)and recessed lighting.
What happened to me is the moisture went up through the ceiling lights and condensed on some sheathing so now I have mildew in my attic!! GRRR, just wanted to give anyone the heads up to be careful with recessed lighting in the kitchen.
Oh, and this is why it also seemed so cold in the kitchen, the heat went up through it too!!
