I don't know if hardwood floors are the best choice for me to have in my kitchen. I cook a lot and my kids help me so spills happen (often).
Hardwoods are great for handling spills in the kitchen. I wouldn't let that concern you. With kids you may want to consider going with a prefinished veneer. I think it is more durable and it costs less..
Hardwood floors will help the resale value of your home if you ever decide to sell. They are sought after so you may sell quicker too.
You would think this is common sense but I have seen hardwood floors in some kitchens take a beating for no reason. Have an area rug in front of your sink to take care of spills, If you have an outside entrance to your kitchen put one there too.
Just thought I would chime in here.
Does anyone recommend prefinished over unfinished hardwood floors or is it the other way around?
Prefinished!!
Also if you have a high traffic area in your kitchen get a rug runner to place there, it will save wear and tear on your hardwood.
Prefinished, that is what most hardwood floors are these days anyway.
Does anyone know anything about bamboo floors?
