The North Shore section of Kauai is a wonderful area to see when vacationing in Hawaii. I will try and highlight some of the areas that you may want to see when you come here.
A must is the Na Pali Coast you will see breathtaking views along the Kalalau Trail. See the many caves, cliffs, and lava tubes. You can
raft, hike, camp, and for some up close views you can even take a helicopter ride.
You will want to see the beauty of Hanalei Valley as well, you can see the many taro fields and tour the Waioli Mission House. While you are in the area be sure and walk the beaches of Hanalei Bay and take a trip to both Waikanaloa Wet Cave, Maniniholo Dry Cave, and Waikapalae Wet Cave.
Some other areas of interest would be Lumahai Beach, Makana Peak, and Kee Beach. The snorkeling at Kee Beach is wonderful by the way. This is the beach that you saw in Thorn Birds.
One of the best views in Kauai I believe is the one from Hanalei Valley Lookout where you can see Namolokama Falls. You may also want to stop by Anini Beach and the Kilauea Lighthouse which is surrounded by the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge.
You will find many wonderful resorts and restaurants in Princeton. You will also find 3 beaches around that area. Pu'u Poa, Kenomene Beach, and Kaweonui Beach. I have enjoyed snorkeling at Kaweonui but there are some high rip tides there so be careful.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Kauai Island, and my listing of favorite places helps you to see all there is to see there.
