We had the opportunity to travel to South Dakota and see Mount Rushmore.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It is unreal to see the faces of the presidents carved in stone like that. I am amazed that someone saw this vision and then saw fit to carry out the sculpting.
We walked the Presidential Trail and got as close as we could to the faces. It was just a marvel to me to see our great leaders sculpted in stone for everyone to see.
We got lucky and were also there for the lighting ceremony. They do that at 9 oclock every evening. The ranger spoke on it and it was so very interesting. I was amazed seeing their faces lit up at night.
We want to go back someday on the 4th of July, I guess they put on a big fireworks display. I can't think of a more patriotic place to do that.
Everyone vacationing in South Dakota should stop, it is not enough catching a glimpse from the highway - you need to go up close and really see and enjoy it.

We were in Rapid City last year and they were building an indoor water park with slides, waves, and a lazy river. I really want to go and my parents say maybe this winter.
I would love to hear from anyone who has gotten to go already what the water park is like.

We were in South Dakota on vacation a few years back and ran out of time before we could visit Bear Country USA. Has anyone taken the drive and is it worth the time?

I have been to the Black Hills Passion Play twice now and I hope to go again someday.
I first went as a young teenager with my parents. I wasn't near as excited about it as they were but I was drawn into the play and seeing the bible come to life. We sat outside under the stars and watched this and I was enthralled with the animals, the costumes, and the story.
I since have went back and saw it again as an adult and enjoyed it just as much if not more. The Black Hills Passion play is the only passion play I have ever seen, but I can't imagine one being any better than his one.
Be sure and bring a jacket or blanket as the night gets chilly, and even if you are cold you won't want to miss any of it. I can't wait to take my kids to see it.

I am not sure what I really expected when I headed to Sturgis for the Motorcycle Rally. What I did see was more motorcycles than I ever thought I would see and some of the most unique bikes I could imagine.
I found people to be very friendly and it wasn't the wild party that I thought it might be. I met people from all over the United States and some from other countries too. It was great just visiting with people and enjoying everything.
They all had a love of motorcycles in common. There were people from all walks of life there and it was just amazing seeing everyone together in one place.
I would recommend the Sturgis Rally to all who enjoy traveling by motorcycle. South Dakota, in particular the Black Hills areas, really cater to the riders and make them feel welcome. The Black Hills are gorgeous too.

We were driving through South Dakota and the kids needed a break so we decided to stop at Wall Drug Store. It was touted as the largest drug store in the world.
My wife and I and all the kids had a great time. There were lots of fun things for the kids, they especially enjoyed the rides. My wife and I got a ton of great fun pictures from the cutouts they had available too.
I have to mention that I had the best hot beef sandwich there. So if you are in the area and stop by you should try one.

I guess Fantastic Caverns is America's only ride through cave tour, but regardless of that we really enjoyed it.
We didn't even know about it but as we were following Route 66 we saw it and decided to stop.
It was quite interesting as we followed the underground river and saw and heard about the cave.

The kids were the ones that thought this was a show we should go see and they were right. We were amazed by the tumbling those acrobats can do.
The whole show was just incredible and kept us all entertained. They really know how to put on a show and entertain a crowd.
If you are in Branson Missouri and get the chance this is a show you should go see.

The whole family enjoyed the Fish and Wildlife Museum, (it was in Springfield Missouri) we were fasciinated with the huge salt water aquarium. We spent a lot of time watching and enjoying the close up look of all the different fish.
We also were quite taken with the beavers and otters, watching their fun antics was really a good time.

Holy cow, it you like to fish, hunt, camp, or do basically anything outdoors then you just have to stop at Outdoor World. The Bass Pro Shops have created a paradise for people who love doing outdoor activities.
About any kind of equipment you want they have it, I am an avid fisherman and I felt like a kid in a candy store. I had heard it was nice but wow it was awesome.
The kids had fun too while I was doing my looking, they had wildlife displays and several aquariums that they enjoyed.
Great stop to make if you are anywhere near Springfield Missouri.
